Old photos of the former chapel, Little Shelford

The Little Shelford chapel off Little Shelford High Street was built in 1823, rebuilt in 1881 and closed in the 1980s. It is now a private home.

Around seven families were described as Presbyterian in Little Shelford 1731. In 1759, a house was licensed for protestant worship by the United Brethren.

John Wesley preached at Little Shelford in 1759. In 1761 a house in Little Shelford was licensed for Methodist worship and in 1783 there were said to be many Methodists in the parish.

In 1807, the rector reported that there was no meeting house and the few dissenters often attended church, although it was later said that the meeting house had been in use before 1800. It was refitted and licensed in 1823. Described as a barn, it was likely to be on the site of the later chapel, east of High Street near King's Farm.

In 1851 around 50 people attended each of the three Sunday services. The meeting was served by the Home Missionary Society, a Congregational body. The chapel was probably rebuilt in 1881.

In 1895 it was served with Sawston, as it was in the 1960s when it had around 11 members.
